What was covered in the sex education seminars?
Topics like puberty, the male and female reproductive system. In addition, topics like sexual
wellness, AIDS and HIV were also covered. Special emphasis was given to topics like
contraceptionAlso known as birth control, contraception is the act of del... More and consent.
How was it taught?
Most of the topics were taught with the help of a book called “Healthline”. The weeklong
sessions were conducted by my high school biology teacher in collaboration with our
biology syllabus.
Did it change your perspective about sex?
Yes, of course it did! I learnt about the importance of respecting each other’s body as well
as respecting our own. I also became aware of how important it is to take care of our sexual
wellbeing. The importance of sex keeps evolving over time and it’s crucial that we
understand that there is more to sex than just the act itself. It also made me aware of the
consequences that can befall an individual or their partner if proper care isn’t taken.
